What is a zap?
A "zap" is a data connection between two or more cloud-based applications. Each application hosted in Zapier.com's library of 2000+ applications provides specific data "end-points" to authorized users. These connections allow data to be created, transmitted, retrieved, updated, and/or deleted.
What is Zapier?
Zapier.com is our favorite cloud-based solution for retrieving and sending data. The first step to getting started connecting applications is to create a free account on Zapier.com. An account will allow you to connect any two applications from Zapier's library. More advanced professional-level and team accounts are also available and allow for more advanced data collection.
How will this help my community?
By connecting your Participate account to a Zapier account, you can connect important events in your community with other apps you use. This will enable you to visualize data in new and exciting ways, giving new insights into engagement patterns and opportunities.
Creating your Zapier account
Follow the steps below to sign up for a new account:
Go to Zapier.com.
Complete the sign up process by answering profile questions.
Decide if you'd like to receive marketing emails (check/uncheck the box).
You may want to take a moment to Explore the library of applications available.
What type of plan am I on?
You'll see, in the bottom-left corner, that you are on a Free Plan. A blue banner at the top will tell you that you're trialing the Professional-level plan. In 14 days, the trial will end, but you will still have access to the Free Plan. This Free Plan will allow you to create up to 5 zaps and run up to 100 transactions per month. A transaction includes any data that passes between two applications.
That's it! You've created your free Zapier.com account.
