How to Edit Questions with Rules Safely

Editing existing questions that have Rules attached is complex, and may cause data corruption if you too many changes in a without saving.

It’s important to save the changes after removing a Rule from a Question and before deleting the Rules. Adding too many operations in a single submission can cause problems in the backend, and saving your new Version could fail.

Here are some tips for editing Questions with Rules (this is for editing existing templates only, new templates should be fine):

  1. Avoid deleting and recreating rules.
    In most cases, you don't need to delete existing rule and create new one.  You can edit the conditions by clicking 'manage conditional rules' in the side menu.

  2. Steps to delete a conditional rule.
    If you need to delete a rule (you are changing conditional questions to normal questions).

    Please follow these steps:

    1. unlink all the conditional questions from this rule (edit question > click remove on the left panel).

    2. save the template

    3. delete the rule

    4. save the template again
