3DPrinterOS OctoPrint Plugin Installation Guide

Introduction

The 3DPrinterOS OctoPrint Plugin allows supported 3D printers to connect to the 3DPrinterOS Cloud for remote management. The supported 3D printers for the OctoPrint Plugin are:

  • Robo3D R2

  • Robo3D C2

  • MakerGear M3-ID

Important: This guide works with any device that has OctoPrint installed.


1. Pre-installation Checks

Ensure:

  • The printer is unpacked, has a stable surface, and is connected to power and network.

  • Firmware is updated via the printer’s LCD.

  • Calibration steps:

    1. Run Z Offset once.

    2. Perform build tray calibration 3 times.

    3. Run Z Offset again.

    4. Complete Z Offset fine tuning (right line, left line, circle).


2. Plugin Installation

Step 1: Go to Settings(1) → Plugin Manager(2) → [Scroll down(3)] → Get More…(4).

Install the Plugin (choose one method)

  • From Uploaded Archive:

    • In the “Install new Plugins..” dialog select "from an uploaded archive"(1), click browse(2), upload a file, and press install(3).

After installation, press Restart Now (1) and confirm restart(2).


3. Printer Registration

  • Go to Settings(1) → Scroll down right menu → 3DPrinterOS(3).

  • Select your printer type(4).

  • Enable Verbose logging(5) (optional).

  • For Robo3D R2, enable Send camera images to 3DPrinterOS Cloud(6).

  • Click Register printer(7).

  • Copy the registration token(1) from the pop-up.

  • Go to https://cloud.3dprinteros.com/#/printers(1), click Add printer(2), switch to the old Printer Wizard(3), select printer model(4), then click Add printer(5).


  • Paste the copied Registration token on the Printers page(6), and click Connect (7).

  • Return to OctoPrint and click OK(1).

  • Save(1) all changes, and you're done!


4. Enable Video Stream (Robo3D R2 only)

  • Go to System(1) → Start video stream(2).


5. Finalizing the Setup

  • Verify the printer appears online on your 3DPrinterOS Cloud Printers page.

Your printer is now fully integrated with the 3DPrinterOS Cloud.

Troubleshooting:

  • Printer offline? Check OctoPrint and the registration token.

  • Video issues? Verify camera settings and restart OctoPrint.
