Connect OrcaSlicer to 3DPrinterOS

How to connect OrcaSlicer to your 3DPrinterOS account and upload a sliced file.

Written by Illia Nazarko

OrcaSlicer can send your sliced files straight to your 3DPrinterOS account. This guide walks through connecting OrcaSlicer to 3DPrinterOS and uploading your first print.

Before you start, you’ll need: OrcaSlicer installed (a version that includes the 3DPrinterOS print host, v2.4.0-beta or later); a 3DPrinterOS account; and a printer profile already selected in OrcaSlicer (the printer model you slice for)

1. Open the connection settings

In OrcaSlicer’s Prepare tab, look at the Printer panel (top-left). Click the network / connection icon to the right of the Printer heading.

2. Set the host type to 3DPrinterOS

The Physical Printer window opens. Open the Host Type dropdown and choose 3DPrinterOS.

3. Check the agent and URL

Confirm Printer Agent is set to Orca and the Hostname, IP or URL is your 3DPrinterOS cloud address (https://cloud.3dprinteros.com).

4. Click Login/Test

Click Login/Test. When OrcaSlicer asks “Proceed with login to 3DPrinterOS?”, click Yes.

5. Authorize in your browser

Your browser opens a 3DPrinterOS authorization page. Review the access it requests and click Allow.

6. Confirm the connection

Back in OrcaSlicer you’ll see “Connection to 3DPrinterOS cloud works correctly.” Click OK, then OK again to close the Physical Printer window. Your printer is now connected to 3DPrinterOS.

Bambu Lab printers: one extra setting

Bambu Lab printers need one extra setting enabled in OrcaSlicer before 3DPrinterOS can reach them. This is required whether or not the printer is logged in inside OrcaSlicer.

  1. In OrcaSlicer, open the printer settings for your Bambu Lab printer.

  2. Go to the Basic information tab, and under the Advanced section turn on "Use 3rd-party print host". This is the setting that lets a third-party host such as 3DPrinterOS control the Bambu printer.

  3. Send your file again from OrcaSlicer.

7. Slice your model and send it

Add your model to the plate, click Slice plate, then click Print. In the Send G-code to printer host window, click Upload. (Use Upload and Print only when a physical printer is connected and ready.)

8. Choose upload options

In 3DPrinterOS Cloud upload options, keep Single file selected, choose your Printer type from the list, and click OK.

9. Done. The file is in 3DPrinterOS

OrcaSlicer shows the upload as COMPLETED, and your file appears in your 3DPrinterOS → Files list, ready to print.

Tips

  • Upload sends the file to your 3DPrinterOS Files. Upload and Print also starts a print on a connected printer.

  • If you’re prompted to log in again later, just click Login/Test and authorize. Your session may have expired.
