If you don't have a Workgroup Access Code, you can join your 3DPrinterOS organization by logging in with SSO (if your organization uses it) or by asking the Organization Admins to add you directly from the app. This article explains how the Workgroup Access Request works for both users (students) and Organization Admins.
The "Request Access to the Organization" option is available only if your Organization Admin has enabled it (see the Admin section below) and, by default, only when your account email has the same email domain as the organization (e.g., @youruniversity.edu).
For Students and Users: Requesting Access
There are two places where you can enter a code or request access:
On first login, the license popup ("Manage all your 3D printers from one platform") shows Enter the Workgroup Access Code and Request Access to the Organization.
On the Printers tab, when your printers list is empty and you have no license, the "Get Access to Your Organization's Printers" screen shows Enter the Access Code and Request Access to the Organization.
Option 1. Join via SSO login
If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO), the easiest way to join is to log in to 3DPrinterOS with your organization's SSO account (for example, your school login). When SSO is configured for your organization, logging in this way can add you to the organization automatically, so you don't need an Access Code or a separate request.
Option 2. Enter an Access Code
If your administrator gave you a Workgroup Access Code, click the Enter Access Code button (Enter the Workgroup Access Code on the license popup, or Enter the Access Code on the Printers tab) and type it in. The code is case-sensitive.
Option 3. Request access to the organization
If you don't have an Access Code and SSO isn't set up for your organization, you can ask the Organization Admins to add you:
Click Request Access to the Organization.
Confirm the request in the dialog: "Do you want to Request Access to the Organization %orgname%?", then click Request Access.
You will see the confirmation toast: "The Request Access email was sent to the Organization Admins. Please wait until the request is finalized."
An email is sent to your Organization Admins if it was enabled in organization settings. Once an admin approves it, you are added to the organization and the admin assigns you to the necessary workgroups. You don't need to do anything else. Just wait for the access to appear.
You can send only one Access Request per 10 minutes. If you try again sooner, you will see the error: "Error on Request Access: The Organization Access Request was already sent for your account. You can try again after 10 minutes."
For Organization Admins: Enabling and Approving Requests
Step 1. Enable Access Requests
Go to Organization Settings >> Customization.
Enable Allow Organization (Workgroup) Access Requests and fill in the list of Org Admin email addresses under "Notify these admins when users request access". The "Request Access to the Organization" button only appears for users after setting is enabled and this list is configured.
Users are matched to your organization by email domain. By default, the setting "Users connecting with an Access Code" is restricted to users whose email domain matches the organization's domain.
Step 2. Approve a Request
When a user sends a request, the configured admins receive an email "User requested Access to the Organization" containing the user's email and an Add User to Organization button.
Click Add User to Organization in the email.
Confirm in the dialog: "Are you sure that you want to add user %useremail% to your %orgname%", then click Add user to the Organization.
Select the workgroup you want the user to be assigned to and click OK.
If the user is already a member of your organization, clicking "Add to the Organization" opens the Manage popup right away and shows the warning: "User %useremail% is already a member of your Organization".
