✏️ Logbook | How can my team capture notes on what happened during their shifts?

The log is an especially useful communication tool for teams on the scheduler, and provides important context to understand historical performance.

How to use the Logbook

  1. Log in to either the 5-Out web platform or Operator app

  2. Navigate to the Logbook page by click the pencil icon

  3. Review high level metrics at the top of the screen for quantitative context on the day/shift

  4. Add notes by clicking the "+" icon in each section of the logbook

What fields are available for the Logbook?

By default, we include the following fields in the Logbook:

  • Manager

  • Events

  • VIPs

  • Notes

  • Comp Justification

  • Void Justification

  • Guest Compliments

  • Guest Complaints

  • Staff Comments

  • Training

  • Employee Issues

  • Service Issues

  • Food Issues

  • Special Feedback

  • Low Counts

  • Items Off

  • 86's

  • Staffing

  • Beverage Development

  • Equipment / Maintenance

How do I configure/customize the Logbook?

  1. Navigate to Settings > Restaurant Info

  2. Click into the Logbook tab across the top horizontal menu

  3. Use the checkbox to enable/disable the Logbook altogether

  4. Click the three dots next to each Logbook sections to rearrange, hide, or edit

  5. Click the "+" icon at the bottom of the list to add new Logbook sections

Where can I find past Logbook entries?

You can find past Logbook entries in two places:

  • Return to the Logbook in the app or web platform and navigate back to previous dates via the toggle in the top left of the screen:

  • View the previous day's Logbook entry in the Daily Insights email
