Designing Your Packaging Offline

Create your packaging artwork using the design tools you know best, including Adobe Illustrator and other professional design software.

At Box Genie, every box is made to your exact specifications. While our online 3D Design Tool makes it easy to create artwork directly in your browser, we also support designers who prefer to work offline.

Getting started is simple: download your custom dieline template and begin designing in your preferred software.

What is a Dieline?

A dieline is the blueprint for your custom box. It provides all the structural specifications needed to create production-ready artwork.

Your dieline PDF includes:

  • Cut lines

  • Fold/crease lines

  • Bleed areas

These guides ensure your design aligns perfectly with your box dimensions and printing requirements.

Step 1: Enter Your Box Specifications

Start by selecting your box style and project details, including:

  • Box type

  • Material (paper type)

  • Print side options

  • Box dimensions

Supported box styles include:

Before continuing, double-check that all measurements and specifications are accurate, as your dieline will be generated based on this information.

Step 2: Download Your Dielines

Once you've entered your project specifications, there are two ways to access your dieline PDF.

Option 1: Order Now & Send In Your Design

Click Order Now & Send In Your Design.

You’ll receive instructions by email explaining how to submit your completed artwork when it's ready.

Option 2: Download from the 3D Design Tool

  1. Click Design Box Online Now.

  2. Open the 3D Design Tool.

  3. Select Preview from the navigation bar.

  4. Click the download arrow button at the top of the screen.

Your dieline PDF will begin downloading automatically.

Designing in Adobe Illustrator

Once you've downloaded your dieline, you can start creating your artwork in Adobe Illustrator or another vector-based design application.

For Illustrator users, we recommend:

  • Keeping your dieline on a separate layer

  • Exporting your final artwork as a high-quality PDF

  • Preserving vector elements whenever possible

Best Practice: Do not incorporate or flatten the dieline into your final artwork. The dieline should remain separate from your design elements.
