How to split a text cell into multiple columns

If your data file contains details into one single column but should be placed in separate columns, follow the steps in solving this issue.

For example, when we have the First Name and Second Name into the same column but you need it in separate columns, use the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, as can be seen below:

STEP 1:

Select the cell or column that contains the text you want to split

STEP 2:

Select Data > Text to Columns

STEP 3:

In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, select Delimited > Next

STEP 4:

In the Convert to Text to Columns Wizard (Step 2 of 3), please check the delimiter you need to split the data by.

Note: If you need to split your text string by a special delimiter, please check the Other option, and then type the delimiter into the following box.

STEP 5:

Select Next > In the Column data format area, select the data format for the new columns. By default, the columns will have the same data format as the original cell > Finish
