Overview
You can assign macro targets to clients using the Macros block in any program type. Targets can be:
Exact values (set protein, carbs, and fats directly), or
Bodyweight based (auto-calculated using client weight, e.g. 1.5g protein per kg).
đ Ideal for scaling across group programs while keeping targets personalised.
Clients can connect FITR with Apple Health or Google Health Connect to automatically sync macros from their chosen nutrition app.
How do I add macros to a program?
Add a macros block to any day within any program type.
Hover over a day on the schedule and the Macros icon will appear.
Within build-mode you'll also see the action to add a Macros block. If the day already contains a Macros block, this button won't be available to use as you can only add once macro target per day.
Once added the macros block will appear at the top of the day - making it clear and easy to see which day's you've assigned macros to.
â ď¸ Only one Macros block per day is allowed. If a block already exists, youâll be asked whether to replace or keep it.
Setting Macro Targets
You can assign macros in two ways:
Exact Targets - Set specific values for Protein, Carbs, and Fat.
Body weight Based Targets - Automatically calculate targets based on the client's bodyweight.
Exact targets:
Best for: 1-2-1 coaching or clients with precise, individualised goals.
Calories are auto calculated using:
Calories = (Protein Ă 4) + (Carbs Ă 4) + (Fat Ă 9)
Body weight based macro targets:
Best for: Group programs, where the same formula can be applied at scale.
When switching between modes, your previously entered values will be saved.
Default Behaviour:
Group-based programs default to bodyweight based targets.
Clients must have a bodyweight recorded to receive weight-based targets.
1-2-1 programs default to exact targets
Estimating Targets with the Macro Calculator
Use the Macro calculator to estimate suitable daily macros, then copy them straight into your program.
Supports Harris-Benedict and Mifflin-St Jeor calorie formulas.
One click to apply: 'Copy to Macros' fills the Macros block for you.
Complete the fields, then choose a macro split (Protein % / Carbs % / Fat %):
Balanced 30 P / 40 C / 40 F
High Protein 40 P / 30 C / 30 F
Low Carb 30 P / 20 C / 50 F
Low Fat 30 P / 50 C / 20 F
Difference Between Harris Benedict & Mifflin St Jeor Formulas
Both methods estimate BMR and multiply by activity to give TDEE (the baseline for macros). Pick the one that fits your coaching style:
MifflinâSt Jeor
Generally more accurate for todayâs population
Slightly lower calorie estimates
Best for most clients, especially fat loss or recomp
HarrisâBenedict
Older equation (early 1900s)
Slightly higher calorie estimates
Best if your programme historically uses it or you prefer a higher baseline
Reviewing Macro Performance
Only clients who have macro targets selected for the programme/track appear here.
In Review mode you can see adherence at a glance:
Assigned targets are shown at the top
Client logs appear underneath
Clients are grouped into:
Completed - logged any macros
Missed - no macros logged
From this view, message an individual client or bulk message everyone in Completed or Missed.
