Do I Need My Own Stripe Account? (Coach)

Coaches need a Stripe account to receive payments on FITR. Clients do not. Here's how it works and how to set it up.

Updated yesterday

Coaches on FITR need their own Stripe account to receive payments. Clients do not need one, Stripe handles their payment at checkout automatically.

πŸ“‹ When to use this

  • You are setting up your FITR coach account and want to understand how payments work

  • You want to know if you need a Stripe account before selling programs

βš™οΈ How it works

For coaches: Yes, you need a Stripe account. FITR uses Stripe to process all client payments and send earnings to your bank. Without a connected Stripe account, you cannot receive payouts from your program sales. FITR creates a new Stripe account linked to your FITR login during setup β€” you do not need an existing Stripe account beforehand.

For clients: No Stripe account needed. Clients pay through the FITR checkout page using a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Stripe handles this in the background invisibly.

πŸ–₯ How to connect Stripe as a coach

  1. Go to Settings in your coach dashboard

  2. Select the Stripe or Payouts tab

  3. Click Connect Stripe account

  4. Follow the Stripe setup flow β€” you will be asked for your bank account and identity details

  5. Once complete, you will be redirected back to FITR and Stripe will be linked

πŸ”§ Troubleshooting and FAQs

Do I need to pay for Stripe separately?

  • No. There is no separate Stripe subscription fee. FITR deducts a 5% transaction fee from each client payment, plus standard Stripe processing fees, before paying out to your bank.

Can I use an existing Stripe account I already have?

  • Not directly. FITR creates a new connected Stripe account during setup. However, if you log in using your existing Stripe credentials, the new account will sit under the same Stripe login and you can switch between accounts using the Stripe account switcher.

I set up Stripe but am not receiving payouts

  • Check that Stripe verification is complete - Stripe may have outstanding identity or bank checks. Log into your Stripe account directly and look for any outstanding action items.
