This allows developers to test their changes in an environment identical to their live account. Sandbox is simply a way to have outright experimentation from the production environment without making any real changes to the code. Sort of like a preview of changes.

To go to your Sandbox:

If you made changes that you're not satisfied with, you can always start over by select the Delete Sandbox button on the bottom right corner:
