Barcode Scanning in OnRent Go

Learn how to allocate items using a barcode scanner

Allocating Items Using Barcodes in OnRent Go

In OnRent Go, you can allocate items to orders that are in the Reserved status. Items can only be allocated while an order is reserved, as they have not yet been picked, delivered, or booked out.

If barcode scanning is not used:

  • For serialised items, manually select the required item from the list of available items.

  • For bulk items, enter the quantity you want to allocate.

Using Barcode Scanning

The allocation screen supports barcode scanning. The following barcode types are recognised:

  • Product code (bulk items)

  • Item number (serialised items)

  • Barcode number (serialised items)

There are two ways to scan barcodes:

Option 1: USB or Wireless Barcode Scanner

  1. Connect a USB or wireless barcode scanner to your computer.

  2. Open the allocation screen.

  3. Scan the barcode to allocate the matching item.

Option 2: Phone or Tablet Camera

  1. On your phone or tablet, open the required order item.

  2. Select Actions.

  3. Tap the Camera button to start scanning.

  4. Scan the barcode to allocate the item.

Printing Barcodes

Printing barcodes is not currently supported in OnRent Go. However, you can use a variety of third-party websites or apps to generate and print barcode labels.

If required, you can export your stock data to create barcodes externally, then import the updated file to populate or update barcode numbers in OnRent Go.
