With Send DMs in Taplio’s Networking section, you can reach your audience with personalized direct message campaigns, whether you want to contact existing connections, engage people who interacted with your posts, or reach a specific LinkedIn account.
Step 1: Access Send DMs
From your Taplio dashboard, head over to Networking in the left-hand menu.
Under Start conversations. Grow your network, click Get started next to Send personalized DMs in bulk.
This opens the Send DMs flow, where you’ll go through four steps:
Add recipients
Write message
Review & confirm
Send DMs
Step 2: Add Recipients
Choose who you want to reach. You can combine multiple sources into a single campaign:
From a contact list
Import recipients from your Taplio lists.Specific account
Add recipients from a LinkedIn username or profile URL.Post engagement
Target people who liked or commented on a post.
Once recipients are added, click Add Recipients to continue.
Note: You can send up to 100 DMs per day. If your campaign exceeds the daily cap, extra messages are queued for the next day.
💡 Tip: It’s best to segment your audience so each campaign feels relevant and personal.
Step 3: Write Your Message
In the Message content box, type your message. Taplio supports variables so you can personalize at scale:
Compose your message in the editor.
Taplio supports personalization variables. Type [ in the message field to insert dynamic fields such as:
[firstname]
[company]
[title]
[city]
and others depending on available data
✨ Example:
👉 “Hi [firstname], I noticed you’re doing great work at [company]. Would love to connect!”
Personalized messages tend to perform much better than generic outreach, so we recommend keeping messages concise and relevant.
Click Continue with recipients once ready.
Step 4: Review & Confirm
Before sending, review:
Number of DMs to be sent
Message preview with variables populated
Delivery pacing (messages are sent gradually, not all at once
Please note:
Only 1st-degree connections receive the DM directly
For non-connected recipients, a connection request is sent first, followed by the DM once accepted
Daily cap: 100 DMs, additional messages are queued automatically
Optional settings available:
Skip recipients with unfilled variables
If a variable such as [firstname] cannot be resolved, those recipients can be skipped.
Skip non-connected recipients
If enabled, only 1st-degree connections will receive the campaign.
Step 5: Send or Schedule
When everything looks good, click Send Messages to launch the campaign.
You can also choose Schedule Messages if you prefer to send them later.
Taplio will then begin sending messages gradually to help keep outreach activity natural.
Best Practices
To get the most from Send DMs:
Keep messages short and conversational
Use variables to personalize at scale
Segment recipients by audience or intent
Avoid overly promotional or spam-like wording
For non-connections, keep in mind a connection request goes first unless skipped
The goal is to start conversations, not blast cold outreach.
