A2P 10DLC can have a significant impact on how you use the Dialer with Telnyx services.

What is 10DLC?

10 Digit Long Code (10DLC) is a new industry standard that governs application-to-person (A2P) texting using traditional 10-digit phone numbers. By complying with 10DLC, your business can leverage higher messaging throughput levels over 10-digit phone numbers, making them more suitable for running large SMS or MMS campaigns.

There are two important requirements under the new A2P 10DLC system:

  1. Brand Registration: Businesses must identify who they are to the carrier networks.

  2. Campaign Registration: Businesses must register the type of messages they are sending, such as notifications.

What do you need to do?

Log in to your Telnyx Mission Control Portal at https://portal.telnyx.com/.

Step 1. Navigate to Messaging > 10DLC > Brands. Click "Create New Brand".

Register your brand by entering your business details. Then, click "Save".

Step 2. Once you’ve created/registered a Business Brand, navigate to Messaging > 10DLC > Campaigns. Click "Create New Campaign".

A campaign contains information about the messages you intend to send. You'll be asked for the following information when registering a 10DLC campaign.

  • Use case

  • Vertical

  • Campaign description

  • Sample messages

  • Campaign and content attributes

  • Message Flow

  • Opt-in Keywords

  • Opt-in Message

  • Opt-out Keywords

  • Opt-out Message

  • Help Keywords

  • Help Message

To fill in the required fields, please refer to the A2P Campaign Registration: Sample Data or Information.

Step 3. Once you’ve set up your campaign, you need to assign the number(s) to it. Navigate to Messaging > 10DLC > Campaigns. You will be redirected to the Campaign details page. Simply select the campaign.

This step assumes you have set up an SMS-capable phone number with Telnyx already.

Scroll down to the Assign Numbers area. Then, select a Messaging Profile to load the numbers.

Finally, assign the number(s) to the campaign.
