How to Manage and Allocate CEUs Within the AAPC System
Overview
AAPC allows eligible CEUs to be allocated to multiple credentials when certification requirements permit. Some CEUs have credential-specific restrictions and may not be transferable.
How to Reallocate CEUs
To move CEUs between eligible credentials:
Open the CEU entry in your CEU Tracker.
Select Edit next to the CEU.
Make any necessary updates and select Save.
If the CEU is eligible for allocation, additional fields will appear allowing you to assign the CEU to another credential.
Select Save again to complete the update.
If Allocation Options Are Not Available
The CEU may not be eligible for transfer.
If applicable, upload the completion certificate and save the entry again. Some allocation controls become available only after supporting documentation is attached.
CEUs That Cannot Be Reallocated
The following CEUs generally cannot be moved between credentials:
CEUs entered manually without an index number
CMS-sponsored training CEUs
Credential-specific course CEUs
CEUs that do not meet eligibility requirements for the receiving credential
Credential-Specific Restrictions
Certain CEUs may only be applied to specific certifications.
Examples include:
CMS-sponsored training CEUs, which apply only to eligible core credentials
Compliance-focused CEUs that may have category limits
Course-specific CEUs tied to a particular credential
Virtual event CEUs approved only for specific certifications
Always verify that a CEU is approved for the credential to which you wish to apply it.
