Overview
CEUs are tracked through the CEU Tracker in your AAPC account. Some CEUs may automatically populate in the tracker, while others may need to be entered manually.
AAPC accepts CEUs from certain AHIMA-sponsored educational activities. However, there is an important distinction between AHIMA Sponsored and AHIMA Approved education.

Third-party programs that are only described as "AHIMA Approved"
If a third-party event is merely approved by AHIMA, it generally must also have separate AAPC approval and an AAPC CEU index number to qualify.
Tracking CEUs
Certified members can use the CEU Tracker to review CEU requirements, monitor progress toward renewal requirements, and manage qualifying CEU activities. CEU requirements vary based on the credentials held and certification renewal period.
How to Enter AHIMA CEUs
If your AHIMA-sponsored CEU does not automatically appear in your CEU Tracker, you may need to enter it manually.
Log in to your AAPC account.
Select your name.
Open Certifications and CEUs.
Access your CEU Tracker.
Enter the requested information for the AHIMA educational activity.
Provide any required supporting documentation, such as a certificate of attendance or certificate of completion.
Save the CEU entry and retain your documentation for your records
To receive CEU credit, retain documentation showing your participation, such as:
Certificate of attendance
Certificate of completion
Other proof of participation
One hour of approved AHIMA-sponsored education is generally worth one CEU. CEUs are managed through the CEU Tracker in your AAPC account. Some qualifying CEUs may appear automatically, while others may require manual entry.
Before You Enter AHIMA CEUs
Verify that the education was:
Sponsored by AHIMA or an AHIMA chapter, or
Otherwise approved by AAPC
If neither applies, the education may not qualify for AAPC CEU credit.
Quick Check Before Entering an AHIMA CEU
Before entering your CEU, confirm:
The education was sponsored by AHIMA National or an AHIMA chapter.
You have proof of participation.
The event is not merely "AHIMA Approved" without separate AAPC approval.
