Verdict, Job Recommendations, and Tags all live in your Notes settings, but they're built for different jobs. Picking the right one keeps your team faster on mobile at events, and makes your Talent list easier to filter and report on afterward.
Use Verdict for the one decision that matters most
Verdict is a single field with up to three options — for example, Advance, Maybe, and Not a Fit. Because it's capped at three choices, it always shows on the note with no extra tap, and it's filterable and sortable on your Talent list.
Use Verdict for the one call your team needs to make about every person — a hiring decision, a follow-up priority, or a go/no-go. If you're currently using tags to capture something like this, moving it to Verdict makes it faster to see and act on in the moment, and easier to pull into reports later.
Use Job Recommendations for role or program interest
Job Recommendations point someone at something specific: a role type, an Abode program or cohort, or a custom label. There's no limit on how many options you set up, so on mobile they appear as a searchable, scrollable list rather than a single tap.
Use this field for anything with more than a few options that your team needs to search through quickly — broad job families like Engineering, Marketing, or Finance are a good fit.
Use Tags for grouping that doesn't need sorting
Tags label people for later — these are talent tags, separate from the tags on your pages. Tags work well for broad, lightweight groupings you want visible on someone's record but don't need to sort by during the event itself, like class year or program type (e.g., Sophomore, Senior, MBA).
Tags aren't sortable the way Verdict is, so avoid using them for anything your team needs to act on quickly, like a hiring call — that's what Verdict is for. Filtering by tag is coming soon, which will make tags more useful for narrowing down your Talent list after the fact.
Why this matters at events
At a busy career fair, every extra tap costs your team time. A hiring decision squeezed into a fourth or fifth tag option means your Event Team has to scroll to find it every time, and it's harder to sort on afterward. Moving that decision into Verdict keeps it to one tap and fully reportable, while Job Recommendations still gives you room for a long list of role interests in a searchable drawer.
Quick comparison
Field | Best for | Options | On mobile | Filterable / sortable |
Verdict | The one decision every note needs (hiring call, priority, go/no-go) | Up to 3 | Always visible, one tap | Yes |
Job Recommendations | Pointing someone to a role, program, or interest area | Unlimited | Searchable, scrollable list | Limited |
Tags | Lightweight grouping for later (e.g., class year, program type) | Unlimited | Searchable, scrollable list | Filtering coming soon (not sortable) |
