What is a Language Replica?

A language replica allows you to create a translated version of a lesson while maintaining a link to the original. Once the replica is created, any changes made to the master lesson are automatically synchronized with its translated copy.

How to Create a Language Replica?

Open the course where you want to create a language replica, then navigate to the settings of the desired lesson. Click "Make a Replica":

Next, select the Academy where the master lesson is located, choose the course and the lesson that will serve as the master, then click "Create Language Replica with AI-translator":

Translation Settings

When creating a language replica, you need to specify:

  • the source language of the lesson;

  • the target language for translation;

  • optionally, a glossary.

A glossary allows you to control the translation of specific words, terms, or short phrases. For example, you can keep certain names untranslated or define custom translations for specific terms. After configuring the settings, click "Save":

How Synchronization Works

After creating a language replica, you are automatically taken to the lesson editing mode, where you can make additional changes if needed. The connection between the master lesson and its language replica is preserved:

Any changes made to the master lesson are automatically synchronized with its language replica. For example, if you add new text or modify existing content in the master lesson, those changes will also appear in the translated lesson.

If needed, you can disconnect the language replica from the master lesson:

After that, the replica becomes independent and can be edited separately without any further synchronization.

Using a Glossary

The Language Replica feature supports glossaries. With a glossary, you can:

  • maintain consistent company terminology;

  • define custom translations;

  • exclude specific words or phrases from automatic translation;

  • ensure consistent translation of terms across all language replicas.

💡 Important: A language replica works the same way as a standard lesson master replica. As long as the link is maintained, all changes made to the master lesson are automatically synchronized with the replica.

You can create and manage glossaries by navigating to Academies & Admin SettingsAO Assistant Language Glossaries:

Create a new glossary and add translation rules, making sure to select the appropriate language pair for that glossary:

On the glossary page, you can edit or delete existing rules as needed. You can also synchronize new rules with the API, import an existing glossary from your device, export glossary rules created in your Academy, and quickly find specific rules using the keyword search:
