How to Set Up the Integration with DeepL?

In this article, you'll learn how to set up the integration with the translation service DeepL for use with language replica

Written by Rita

DeepL helps automatically translate lesson content into different languages. To connect the service, it will only take a few minutes: first create an API key in DeepL, then add it to your Academy's settings.

⚠️ Please note that it is not possible to create a language replica without integration with DeepL.

Step 1. Creating an API key in DeepL

Log in to your DeepL account and open the Account settings:

Go to the API Keys and Limits section:

Click Create key:

Give the key a clear name, for example "AcademyOcean Integration" – this will make it easier to recognize among other keys in the future:

Be sure to grant the key all necessary access permissions:

📌 Limited permissions may cause some of the translation features in AcademyOcean to work incorrectly.

Аfter creating it, copy the key:

⚠️ Store the key in a secure place and do not share it with third parties – it provides direct access to your DeepL API account.

Step 2. Adding the key in AcademyOcean

Log in to the Academy and go to Settings, section Apps and Integrations:

Select Integrations:

Find the DeepL card and enable the integration by switching the toggle to the appropriate position:

Paste the previously copied API key into the corresponding field:

Save the changes by clicking the checkmark. The integration becomes active immediately after that:

After this, you'll be able to create a language replica of lessons using the Master/Replica functionality. You can view detailed instructions on creating a language replica via this link.

If the integration isn't working

📌 Check whether your DeepL API plan has expired or reached its limit, whether the key was copied in full without extra spaces at the beginning or end, and whether it has been granted all necessary access permissions.

📎 If none of these steps helped – create a new key in DeepL and repeat the connection process from scratch.
