Understanding what currencies you can invoice in versus what payment methods Acctual can process through Flexible Payment Options.
Invoice currencies:
Unlimited
You can create invoices in ANY currency for your clients:
USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, CHF, SGD, HKD, NZD

Acctual does not limit what currency appears on your invoice. You have complete flexibility to invoice in whatever currency makes sense for your client relationship.
Flexible payment options: Limited currencies
While you can invoice in any currency, Flexible Payment Options (Acctual's payment processing system) only supports specific currencies and payment methods.

How you receive funds (flexible payment options)

Crypto wallets:
Any wallet that supports the networks listed above
Bank accounts:
USD (ACH, Wire, SWIFT)
EUR (SEPA, Wire, SWIFT)
Funds land directly in your chosen destination wallet or bank account. No additional transfer needed.
What if you invoice in an unsupported currency?
If you create an invoice in a currency that Flexible Payment Options does not support (for example, JPY or AUD), you have two options:
Option 1: Use manual payment details add your own bank account or wallet details to the invoice. Your client will see these details on the payment page and pay you directly outside of Acctual. You will need to manually match the payment to the invoice when it arrives.
Option 2: Invoice in a supported currency and let your client pay through flexible payment options for automatic matching.
Example scenarios
Scenario 1: You invoice a UK client in GBP
Invoice shows: £5,000 GBP
Flexible Payment Options: Does not support GBP payments
Solution: Add your GBP bank account as manual payment details. Client pays you directly via bank transfer. You manually match the payment when it arrives.
Scenario 2: You invoice a US client in USD
Invoice shows: $5,000 USD
Flexible Payment Options: Supports USD (ACH, Wire)
Solution: Client uses payment link, pays via ACH or Wire, funds land directly in your USD bank account, invoice automatically marked as paid.
Scenario 3: You invoice a Japanese client in JPY
Invoice shows: ¥500,000 JPY
Flexible Payment Options: Does not support JPY
Solution: Either add manual JPY bank details and let the client pay via Flexible Payment Options.
Frequently asked questions
Can I invoice in one currency but receive payment in another?
Yes, if you use Flexible Payment Options. For example, you can invoice in USD and receive USDC crypto, or invoice in EUR and receive USD in your bank account. Acctual handles the conversion automatically.
What if my client wants to pay in a currency Flexible Payment Options does not support?
Use Manual Payment Details. Add your bank account or wallet information for that currency, and your client will pay you directly outside of Acctual.
Will you add more currencies to Flexible Payment Options?
We are always working to expand currency support. Contact support@acctual.com to request specific currencies or payment methods.
Can I use both Flexible Payment Options and Manual Payment Details on the same invoice?
Yes. You can enable Flexible Payment Options for supported currencies while also adding manual payment details as a backup option.
Why does Flexible Payment Options support fewer currencies than I can invoice in?
Payment processing requires partnerships with banks and payment networks in each currency. We support the most commonly requested currencies and are actively expanding.
