When working across multiple projects or a Firm Library, you may need to copy products along with their custom data fields. This guide explains how to copy custom data effectively, ensuring that all relevant information is transferred accurately.
How to use:
Select the product(s) you want to copy
Choose the destination project or Firm Library
Enable the "Copy Custom Data" toggle before confirming the copy action
What happens to custom data:
Field Mapping:
If a custom field with the same type and name exists in the destination project, data will be mapped to this existing field.
If a field with the same name but a different type exists, a new field will be created with a modified name (e.g., [Field Name] (2,3,4,...)).
Field Types:
List Field: New options from copied data will be added.
Number Field: New options will be included; decimal places will align with the destination project.
Text Field: Text will be copied as is.
Attachment Field: New attachments will be added.
Data Merging:
If identical fields exist in the destination project, the custom data will be merged into these existing fields.
Views:
Default View:
New columns created during the copying process will be visible and placed at the end/right side.
Shared/Personal Views:
New columns will be automatically hidden but can be made visible as needed.
