Here are a bunch more answers to FAQs we frequently get:
How much do I get paid?
You will receive 50% of the profits from your asset sales. Payouts are made once a month unless fees are cost prohibitive to the amount you've made.
We currently use PayPal for most payouts but are willing to discuss other payout options if PayPal can’t work for you.
Is your sales agreement exclusive?
No, our contract does not lock you in to sell exclusively with us.
What is the typical turnaround time?
We realize that the artists we most want to work with are in high demand. We will be flexible with your work/life schedule. When starting a project you will estimate a rough delivery date. Generally we see artists turn projects around in about a month. But if you need more time, please just communicate with us that you need to adjust your delivery date.
How do I choose a product to make?
Check out our article Choosing a Product to Create for more info. We go in to depth on the steps we take when choosing a product.
How many assets should I make?
We have product libraries ranging anywhere from 1 detailed model to 60+ variations. Choose a number that brings value to the customer, but is achievable by you within the scope of your best work.
How do I track my sales? Is there a portal?
sell.actionvfx.com will be your portal for all things project related: submitting product ideas, submitting items for review and submitted final projects.
Please bear with us as it’s in an early phase and there are lots of changes coming. For now, your sales will be sent in an email report.
What format(s) do I use?
For 2D elements we use EXR or ProRes 4444.
For 3D models, we generally use Maya, FBX, OBJ + MTL. However, if you model in another application like Blender or C4D that is fine.
3D Effects (fire, smoke, water sims, etc) are either VDB or Alembic.
How do I send you files?
When we get to that stage, you will deliver files via your contributor profile under the 'Submit > Product for Review' dropdown.
Who does quality assurance? Do you have a dedicated person or you rely on contributors.
We have dedicated staff for flight checking everything, but we rely on contributors to read our specs & standards, read the submission checklists and do their own QA as well. We are a final step in verifying quality, but we are not your QA process. Check your work!
Do you do the final lookdev in house, or you have some presets that all artists must use.
We embrace the individuality and unique design abilities of our contributors. Although some of our products might have a unified look, that might mean that they were produced in-house or by the same contractor. That doesn't mean we want everything to look the same! We strive for excellence but also variety.
