You can use custom parameters to create advanced alert conditions based on time-windowed data. In this example, we’ll show how to set up an alert to detect if your mass concentration total has remained static for 30 minutes.
Step 1: Add 30-minute parameters
Go to your device and select Edit.
Scroll down to the Parameters section.
In this example, we’ll use a Thiamis with an attached DustTrak device, so we’ll add the custom parameters under the DustTrak configuration. For all devices connected to a Thiamis, the parameters will be under that device's specific configuration.Add two new Statistical Parameters:
MAXIMUM of Mass Concentration Total over 30 minutes → name it MAX-MCT-30
MINIMUM of Mass Concentration Total over 30 minutes → name it MIN-MCT-30
These parameters calculate the highest and lowest readings for that time window.
Step 2: Create the alert
Go to your Alerts page and click Create New Alert.
Under Condition, select Function → Difference.
Choose your device (In this example, we would select our Thiamis).
For the first parameter, select MAX-MCT-30.
For the second device, select the same device again, but for parameter, select MIN-MCT-30.
Set the Comparison Operator to ≤ 0.
If your Device has a resolution range like ± 0.001 mg/m³, set the comparison operator and value to ≤ 0.001 instead. This ensures the alert triggers only when readings are effectively static for the entire 30-minute window.
Give the alert a name, assign any subscribers (if needed), and click Create New to activate it.

How it works
This alert compares the 30-minute maximum and minimum values for the same parameter. If both are equal (or within your selected tolerance), it means the reading has not changed during that time, indicating a static signal.
