Perimeter Monitoring Reports

Report on site-boundary air quality with wind direction and impact assessment

Perimeter Monitoring Reports show air quality at the boundary of a site, alongside wind data. They show whether dust and particulates are leaving the site and in which direction. They're used at industrial, construction, and remediation sites to show compliance with regulatory programs such as NYS DER-10 (CAMP) and NJDEP perimeter air monitoring, and to protect surrounding communities.

For the settings every report shares (name, schedule, working hours, Noesis summary), see Creating & Scheduling Reports. For device setup, see Perimeter Monitoring with Aethair PRO or Perimeter Monitoring with Thiamis.

Set up a Perimeter Monitoring Report

  1. In Reports, click + New Report.

  2. Fill in the Info card.

  3. In Settings, set Report type to Perimeter Monitoring.

  4. Choose a Standard and a Wind Detection mode, then select your devices and parameters (see below).

  5. Set the Content and Time Range & Schedule cards, then click Create.

Settings

  • Standard – the regulatory program the report follows. Each standard sets the parameters, averaging period, and alert levels in the Parameters & Alert Levels section (see below).

    • NYS DER-10 (CAMP) – New York State DEC Community Air Monitoring Plan

    • NJDEP PAM – New Jersey DEP perimeter air monitoring

    • Custom – choose your own parameters and set up to two alert levels for each

  • Wind Detection

    • Auto – choose this if a weather station is on site. Wind speed and direction come from the station.

    • Manual – set each device as upwind or downwind yourself.

  • Devices – the perimeter monitoring devices to include.

  • Weather Station – the station that supplies wind data. This option only appears when Wind Detection is set to Auto.

Parameters & Alert Levels

The NYS DER-10 (CAMP) and NJDEP PAM standards fill in their parameters and alert levels for you. Both use 15-minute rolling averages.

above is an example of parameter settings for NYS DER-10

Standard

Particulates (PM10)

Organic vapors (VOC)

NYS DER-10 (CAMP)

≥ 100 µg/m³ – Apply dust suppression;
> 150 µg/m³ – Stop work and re-evaluate

> 5 ppm – Pause work;
> 25 ppm – Shut down

NJDEP PAM

> 150 µg/m³ – Response level

Response level:
Enter the value from your site's approved monitoring plan

  • To add a second alert level to a parameter with only one, click + Add alert level 2.

  • To add a parameter to any standard, click Add parameter.

  • With Custom, choose each parameter yourself and set up to two alert levels for it. Each level has an Operator, Value, and Name, the same as in Custom Air Quality Reports.

  • You can change the names and values that a standard fills in, for example to match your site's approved monitoring plan.

If a parameter shows: No 15-minute rolling average … statistical parameters on the selected devices:

  1. Check your devices. Make sure you've selected the perimeter monitoring devices in the Devices field. The message appears when no device is selected.

  2. Add the rolling average. If the devices are selected and the message still appears, those devices don't have a 15-minute average set up for that parameter yet. Add it as a statistical parameter on each device. See Statistical Parameter.

What's in a Perimeter Monitoring Report

Map

The selected devices on a map, placed automatically using GPS.

Note: in an area where you have no signal, the device's position will revert to the last known location reported. You can also set the GPS location manually in the configuration settings for your device.

Devices

Details for each device in the report:

  • Device name

  • Serial number

  • Connected Devices and Port (Thiamis)

  • Gas Sensor Cartridges (Aethair PRO)

  • Upwind percentage, downwind percentage, and location

  • Monitored parameters with MIN, AVG, and MAX levels

Impact Assessment

Mass Concentration Total graph – Mass Concentration Total across the reporting period, with:

  • The minimum, maximum, and average values

  • The alert level threshold, plus a list of alert level events showing when readings went over it

Wind direction graph and table – detailed wind data, including:

  • Wind direction, speed, range, and frequency

  • A wind rose diagram

Data Table

The full set of Mass Concentration Total readings, with the matching wind measurements. Use it for regulatory submissions, environmental audits, compliance reporting, and long-term record keeping.

Summary by Noesis

If Include Summary by Noesis is on, the report ends with an AI-written summary and key findings.
