WiFi Tethering

Connect To Your Phone's Hotspot To Configure WiFi

If your device is having trouble finding a cellular connection, you can tether it to your mobile phone's hotspot to connect it to the internet. This will then allow you to enter your local WiFi credentials and have them pushed to the device.

Steps:

1.  Confirm Hotspot Capabilities

Confirm that your mobile phone and carrier have the ability to generate a "Personal Hotspot" or enable "Mobile Tethering".

2. Set Up Your Hotspot

On your phone, set up your hotspot with the SSID and password from your device's settings page (click "Edit" at the top of your device monitoring page). These settings can be found on the Thiamis configure page / Aethair IAQ configure page .

From the settings, click on the "?" icon next to the connectivity title. This will show you the "Default WiFi Settings," which includes the WiFi SSID (hotspot name) and WiFi Password (hotspot password). Use these to set up your hotspot so your Aethair device can automatically connect.

Android

  • Set your phone's hotspot SSID Name (APT followed by your serial number)

  • Set your phone's hotspot Password (16 characters, listed in default wifi settings)

Apple iPhones

  • Your hotspot name is the same as the your phone name, so you'll have to change your phone name (APT followed by your serial number).

3.  Restart Device

Restart your device by power cycling it and allow a few minutes for it to connect to the phone’s hotspot. Check the web console for connectivity. The device should be reporting during this time.

4.  Configure WiFi settings

On Environet, configure your WiFi settings and allow a few minutes for them to be pushed to your device. Allow the device to report several data points for 5-10 minutes to confirm that it has updated.

5. Turn Off Mobile Hotspot

Turn off your phone's mobile hotspot. Your Aethair device will switch to local WiFi. Power cycle the device again if necessary. It may take 15 minutes for the connection symbol on the console to update visually.
