TSI QuestTemp

How to set up TSI QuestTemp sensors

Below are step-by-step instructions for setting up your TSI QuestTemp. For instructions on setting up your Thiamis, see Setting Up Your Thiamis. For general sensor setup and configuration, see How to Add & Configure a Sensor in Environet.

Setup Instructions:

  1. Connect power to the Thiamis. There are two options:

    • Connect a 12V power supply to the 3-pole Euroblock connector

    • Connect a 5V power supply to either of the USB ports

  2. Plug the serial computer cable (TSI #054-715) / RS-232 cable into the QuestTemp's RS-232 port.

  3. Connect the other end of the cable directly to the RS-232 port on the Thiamis.

Note: The QuestTemp must be connected to Port A, as it requires the signal from this port. This applies to both single-device and multi-device setups. In multi-device setups, connect the QuestTemp first. It cannot be connected to ports B or C.

Errors

When the QuestTemp is not reporting, check the Thiamis configuration page for any listed Errors. Errors can be found in Sensor Configuration section of the Thiamis Configuration Page, and will be highlighted in RED.

Timeout Error

The QuestTemp has not responded to the requests made by the Thiamis and has timed out. It will continue to attempt communication but you can run through the general Troubleshooting Sensors steps to address common problems.

Heat Index / Humidex

The Heat Index is determined using the dry bulb temperature and relative humidity. Based upon charts available from the U.S. National Weather Service, Heat Index represents how an average person feels relative to climate conditions. For a given temperature, the higher the humidity, the higher the heat index.

The Heat Index is defined over a temperature range of 70°F – 120°F (21°C – 49°C) and a relative humidity range of 30% – 99%. Outside of this range, the instrument will show dashes in the display for the Heat Index.
