Overview
The Rokt Conversions Web Pixel enables accurate attribution of conversions from your Shopify store to Rokt campaigns. This helps optimize your marketing performance by tracking user activity through Shopify’s Web Pixels API.
Step 1: Install Shopify App
Install the AfterSell app from the Shopify App Store.
In Shopify Admin, navigate to Apps > AfterSell
You will need to sign up for a paid plan initially. However, you will not be charged. Your Rokt account manager will notify our team to place you on a free plan in the backend.
If you are not able to accept pricing, it's possible that your Shopify account does not have permissions to approve app pricing. Please contact someone who has admin access to your Shopify account to approve app pricing.
Go to the "Rokt Thanks" page within Aftersell and click "Enable Later". This will create your Rokt Ads account automatically.
Please notify your account manager when the steps above are complete.
Step 2: Accept Additional Required Access Scopes
Before the Web Pixel can be activated, you must accept the required access scopes within the AfterSell Admin Dashboard.
After you inform your AM that the installation is complete, our Ops team will enable the feature flag on our backend. After a few minutes, you will be prompted to grant the following permissions:
read_customer_events – Required to track user events like page views and conversions.
write_pixels – Allows the creation and management of Web Pixels.
How to Accept Scopes:
Step 3: Verify Web Pixel Activation
Once access is granted, the Web Pixel will be automatically installed and activated for your store. Please note that the activation might take up to 10 minutes to complete.
To check if the Web Pixel is active:
Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Customer Events.
Under App Pixels, look for "Aftersell".
Ensure that the Web Pixel status is "Connected".
If the Web Pixel does not appear or it says "Disconnected", it may still be processing. Please wait 10 minutes, then refresh the page.
This activated web pixel does two things:
Adds a cookie when a customer lands on your site from one of your Rokt campaigns. Rokt will automatically add the “rtid” query parameter to the URL of the landing page.
Records conversions. If the customer has a cookie from step i) then the conversion will be attributed to your Rokt campaign.
The following settings will be applied automatically by the web pixel app.
Permission: Required > Marketing and Analytics. These are the default settings for new pixels. This is most relevant for customers in the EU and UK. To learn more, see Shopify’s documentation here.
Data sale: Data collected does not qualify as data sale. Conversion data is collected to optimize and monitor advertising campaigns and is not sold by Rokt.
