Translating Post-Purchase Funnels

Aftersell supports translations for post-purchase funnels through two distinct areas: non-editable content and editable content. Each is translated in a different way.

Updated this week

Non-Editable Content

Non-editable content includes system-level text that cannot be changed directly in the funnel editor.

How to translate non-editable content

To translate non-editable parts of post-purchase funnels:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Translations

  3. Enter your desired translations

These translations will apply globally and must all be in the same language.

At this time, non-editable content can only be translated into one language. Multiple language support for these elements is not currently available.

When you set translations in Settings, they apply across all funnels.
For example, if you translate this content into French, those translated elements will appear on all funnels, including funnels that are not otherwise configured for French.

Editable Content

Editable content includes any text fields you can type into directly within the funnel editor, such as headings, body text, and widget copy.

To support multiple languages for editable content, Aftersell uses language-based funnels.

Translating editable content using language triggers

You can create separate funnels for different checkout languages by using the Language trigger.

For example:

  • Create one funnel that only shows to customers who check out in English, and write all content in English.

  • Create another funnel that only shows to customers who check out in French, and write all content in French.

This allows you to fully customize messaging for each language while maintaining separate funnels

Accept and Decline Buttons

Shopify requires that the Accept and Decline buttons on post-purchase upsell pages follow strict text guidelines. These buttons cannot be customized or modified, including layout or copy changes, outside of what Shopify allows.

The button text must follow the guidelines below exactly, even when translated.

Accept Button

The accept button is the primary action on the post-purchase upsell page.

Use the following text:

Pay now • Product total price

If the product being offered is free, use one of the following options:

Add now • Free

or

Add now • $0

Decline Button

The decline button appears below the accept button and is less visually prominent, while still being easy to find.

The decline button must contain the following text:

Decline upsell offer

If you would like these buttons translated, please let us know and provide the exact translations you would like to use.
Our team can add the translations for you, as required by Shopify’s guideline

Translating the Thank You Page

The Thank You page can be translated directly within the Thank You Page Editor.

All editable text on the Thank You page can be updated manually to reflect your desired language. This includes translating content within individual widgets, as outlined below.

Product Recommendations - translate the following fields directly within the widget:

  • Banner text

  • Discount text

  • Free shipping text

  • 'Add' text

FAQs and Text Widgets - simply replace the existing copy within each widget with your translated text.

Image widgets - Any text included in an image must be translated by uploading a separate image in the desired language. To support multiple languages, use different images in each language-specific funnel.

The Thank You page is tied to its corresponding funnel. This means you can translate the Thank You page to match the language of each funnel

Open the Thank You page editor for the relevant funnel and update the widget text accordingly.
