How to search, filter and sort in the Inbox

Quickly identify Inbox items by applying selected criteria.

Agorapulse’s Inbox includes powerful tools to help you find, filter, and organize messages quickly. This article explains how to search, filter, sort and adjust your Inbox view to better manage conversations across your connected social profiles.

How to change the Inbox view

The Inbox view determines which messages are shown for a selected social profile. You can switch views to focus on specific items requiring action, including comments that need review or messages assigned to you.

Each social profile includes three default Inbox views:

  • To review – Shows items that require action and have not yet been marked as reviewed

  • Assigned to Me – Shows items specifically assigned to you

  • All items – Displays all messages for the profile, regardless of status or assignment

You can apply filters to any Inbox view. If you are on an Advanced or Custom plan, you can save these filter combinations as filter presets for quick access later.

To change the Inbox view:

  1. Click a social profile in the left-hand menu to display available Inbox views

  2. Click an Inbox view (such as To review) to apply it

  3. (Optional) Apply additional filters

How to filter Inbox items by post

The Post view lets you focus on conversations grouped by individual posts. This helps you manage threads more efficiently, especially when dealing with related comments or mentions, while respecting your applied filters.

Each post shows how many items are assigned or pending review. You can:

  • Use a search bar to locate posts by keyword

  • Filter to show only posts with items that still need review

  • Click a post to display only the related items within your active preset

This makes it easier to group related comments, mentions, or messages and take action more efficiently. Post View also supports all standard Inbox tools, including bulk actions.

Please Note: The post view is available to users on a Professional, Advanced or Custom subscription plan. If you would like to change your plan to access this feature, feel free to reach out to us here.

To filter Inbox items by post in the Inbox:

  1. Choose an Inbox view

  2. (Optional) Apply filters

  3. Click on the Filter items by post icon

  4. Use the search bar to locate posts by keyword or filter to show only posts with items that still need review

  5. Click a post to view related Inbox items within your view and filter constraints

Please Note: The post view is not available for X (Twitter) profiles.


How to search for items in the Inbox

Please Note: Inbox search is available for users on Standard, Professional, Advanced and Tailored plans. If you would like to change your plan to access this feature, feel free to reach out to us here. User search for X is only available with our X Plus add-on.

Inbox search helps you locate Inbox items by keyword, phrase, or username. To search in the Inbox, follow these instructions:

  1. Click the magnifying (Search) icon

  2. Enter your search criteria

  3. The list of Inbox items matching the criteria will appear
    If filters are applied, results will be limited to filtered items

Please note the following limitations of searching in the Inbox:

  • Does not include messages posted by your own page or profile

  • Special characters (e.g., @) cannot be searched

  • Labels and LinkedIn usernames are not searchable

  • Usernames before October 2023 are not searchable



How to filter items in the Inbox

User-specific filters can be applied to Agorapulse's Inbox in order to efficiently manage and organize Inbox items. Filtering options for the Inbox include:

  • Reviewed by

  • Item type

  • Assigned to

  • Item date

  • Label

  • Sentiment (Custom plans only)

  • Hidden by

  • Removed by

To apply filters in the Inbox, follow these steps below:

  1. Click on the Filters icon
    If the desired filter is visible skip to Step 4

  2. If the desired filtering option is not visible, select +Add filters

  3. Select one or more additional filters from the drop down
    There is no limit to the amount of filters that may be applied at one time and filters can be removed by de-selecting them in the drop down

  4. Apply filtering criteria in the drop-down of each applicable filter

  5. The list of Inbox items matching the filtering criteria will appear

You can minimize the filtering menu by clicking on the Filters icon.

How to remove all filters in the Inbox

  1. Click on the Filters icon

  2. Select the Reset filters option

Please Note: Filtering options will not be saved as you navigate between Inbox views unless filter presets have been configured.


How to sort items in the Inbox

You can sort Inbox items in order of the date they were received (Newest > Oldest and Oldest > Newest). To adjust the sorting settings in the Inbox:

  1. Click the arrow (Sort) icon

The Inbox will default to showing newest items first.
