Read this before you create anything, and come back to it often. It covers disclosure across every platform, host permission, music and third-party rights, and what to keep out of frame.
Program expectations
Four things, and every rule below is a detail of one of them:
Capture the magic of travel
Represent Airbnb and follow our policies
Enchant guests
Follow disclosure guidelines
⚠️ Important: Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in requests to remove content, and possibly result in a creator's removal from the program.
What's in here
Disclosure guidelines
This is the one to get right on every single post. Disclosure applies whenever you share your affiliate link — not only on campaign content.
Social Media Endorsement Guidelines. People, including celebrities, talent and other endorsers, who receive compensation or incentives from Airbnb must disclose this material connection when discussing or promoting Airbnb, including online. See guidance below and be sure to also review and follow your country's specific Airbnb Endorsement Guides applicable to your content.
Posts and Stories
Post copy should include #airbnbpartner plus any local required disclosures above the fold
Stories should include #airbnbpartner in legible font, not covered by a sticker and not too small to read, overlaid in every frame
Static posts and carousels: tag @airbnb, disclosure above the caption cutoff, and a CTA to the link in your bio. In-feed photos have no access to the royalty-free library, so there should be no sound on them
Reels and TikTok: as above, plus a disclosure on screen in the video itself
Videos
Videos must also include a disclosure on screen, and it must be early and obvious. Follow your country's specific endorsement requirements for video. Some ways to do it:
A hashtag on the video: #airbnbpartner, superimposed
Casual and clear: "Thanks to Airbnb for partnering with me." · "Sponsored by Airbnb, curated by me." · "Check out this incredible stay Airbnb got me."
Self-aware: "Yes this is an ad. Yes I'd stay here anyway." · "My link earns commission but these are my picks." · "Technically an ad. Still a good recommendation."
When sharing your affiliate link, always disclose in accordance with your country's endorsement guidelines, even if it is not a campaign post.
On YouTube
Shorts: #airbnbpartner and your local disclosure in the description above the fold, plus on-screen text in the first three seconds. Shorts descriptions can't carry links, so point people to your channel description
Ad-reads and sponsored videos: disclose at the start of the sponsored segment, spoken and on screen, at the moment you begin the Airbnb portion. The description carries #airbnbpartner and says plainly that the link is paid
Pinterest: the disclosure goes on the pin itself, not the board. If the pin links to a blog post, the pin still needs its own
Adding a paid promotion. If your content has a paid product placement, endorsement, or other commercial relationship, you need to notify YouTube so that we can facilitate disclosures to users. It also prevents YouTube from running ads from competitors on your Airbnb campaign content. How to enable in YouTube Studio:
Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
Select Content from the left section.
Click the video you would like to edit.
Select More options.
Check the box next to "My video contains paid promotion like a product placement, sponsorship, or endorsement".
Select SAVE.
Capture the magic of travel with Stays
Show what makes staying with Airbnb feel personal, local, and memorable.
✅ What to include:
Show what makes your Airbnb stay special. The arrival, the view when you open the door, the detail you'd actually mention to a friend
Share your personal experience. Speak to the special touches Hosts on Airbnb put into your Stay
Shoot in natural light with minimal filters
Be a respectful photographer, traveler and drone pilot. Respect public lands. Even if it makes an awesome photo, encourage good traveler behavior
❌ What to avoid:
Saying Airbnb is better or worse than other offerings. Speak to your preferences instead
Commentary on pricing, safety or renting
Comparisons with other brands or platforms
Presenting a product as one you stayed at when you haven't yet (wishlists are okay if clear)
Controversial topics: politics, sex, sexual orientation, political activists and groups, religion, or celebrity mishaps
Represent Airbnb and our policies
All content has to comply with Airbnb's policies, and reflect the best parts of being a guest and a Host on Airbnb.
✅ What to include:
Capitalize the A in Airbnb (not AIRBNB or AirBnB)
Be an outstanding guest by following Airbnb's policies and taking care of the space like it's your own. That includes any guest guidelines outlined on the product listing
Keep it tidy, to show the place in its best light
Ask permission from host prior to booking a stay for a campaign or shooting content there. It's someone's home
❌ What to avoid:
Airbnb as a noun, e.g. "this Airbnb". Consider "this stay on Airbnb" or "this cabin on Airbnb"
Airbnb as a verb, e.g. "I airbnb'd it". Consider "I found this cabin on Airbnb"
Activities you wouldn't do in your neighbor's home (jumping on sofas)
A messy living space, or clutter
Anything that insinuates a large group of people staying there
Referring to your stay as a rental, short-term or long-term
Enchant guests
Content should accurately represent your personal experience, to help others find magical stays. Accurately disclose that you are an Airbnb partner and earn commissions from your links.
✅ What to include:
Be clear and proud to be a partner with Airbnb, following the disclosure guidelines above
Highlight the unique touches that make the listing special
Share your experiences and the memories you made along the way
Discuss why you chose this listing (proximity, space for the value, key amenities)
Show the people you shared the memories with, if you've secured their permission to use their image
❌ What to avoid:
A laundry list of amenities. Share what fills your cup about the listing
Parties, alcohol consumption, or anything implying them. Coffee cups on the porch are a good way to bring beverage vibes into your content
Specific pricing, check-out times or addresses. All of it is subject to change
Children and minors. Follow all applicable laws and safety policies; if possible it's best to avoid, and never feature a minor without a signed parent or guardian release
How to secure Host permission before booking
When booking a stay or an Experience to create content, include the language below in the booking request to ask the Host's permission to film the listing. Secure it in writing, before you book. Ask in the Airbnb message thread and leave it there, so you have a record.
For a Stay:
I wanted to let you know that I'm an influencer and I'm creating content in partnership with Airbnb. I'd like to book and film/photograph at your home. The content I create will be used on social media. Can you please reply to this message with "I approve" if you approve of the use of your home in this way?
For an Experience:
I wanted to let you know that I'm an influencer and I'm creating content in partnership with Airbnb. I'd like to book and film/photograph the following for use in social media: 1) your Experience overall 2) you conducting the Experience. Please let me know if you approve of me capturing #1 or both #1 and #2 and of the content being used in this way.
If they decline, you will need to choose a new listing.
Respect all creators and their work
✅ What to include:
Use sounds and music only from the approved libraries. This includes any posts outside campaigns using your affiliate link
Showcase yourself exploring and enjoying your stay, but be mindful of business names, logos and the like as you do
Only music from the commercial libraries is allowed for brand partnerships like Airbnb. Please only use music and sounds from these three approved libraries: Meta Sound Collection, TikTok's Commercial Music Library, and the YouTube Audio Library. If you want to use your content on multiple platforms, make sure you pick a track available on all platforms.
❌ What to avoid: using any work that is not your own, including but not limited to:
Books and printed materials: book covers, magazines, newspapers or manuals with titles, logos or authors visible
Artwork and visual designs: paintings, illustrations, graphic designs, posters or murals created by someone else. This includes branded decor (Disney, Marvel, sports teams, characters)
TV shows, movies and streaming content: TVs playing shows, sports or movies in the background; clips, sound bites or theme songs
Brands, slogans and logos: clothing and hats with logos or slogans (Nike, Gucci); home items (Stanley, Yeti, Hydroflask); food packaging (Starbucks cups, cereal boxes); toys, games or sports equipment
Cars and vehicles: logos, license plates (even blurred, they can still count as identifiable), and distinctive trademarked vehicles such as a Jeep grille
Technology and devices: screens with recognizable apps; electronics or consoles with visible logos (an Apple logo, a Sony camera)
Signs and public elements: storefronts with business names; street signs, billboards or building signage; art installations in public spaces
Additional guidance around landmarks
General rule: only use images of landmarks shot from public spaces that show context (a skyline or cityscape with other buildings, not close-ups).
❌ Always avoid:
Religious establishments: do not take photos inside religious establishments, such as Catholic churches and La Sagrada Familia
Heritage sites: do not take photos of archeological and cultural heritage sites in Mexico, Australia, Egypt and Cuba
❌ Landmarks to avoid featuring:
Paris: Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower at night, The Louvre, Musee d'Orsay
Versailles: Versailles Palace
Rome: The Colosseum, The Vatican
Los Angeles: the Hollywood sign, LACMA, The Broad, Disney Symphony Hall, Petersen Automotive Museum, Griffith Observatory
London: Buckingham Palace, Tate Modern
NYC: The Met, NY MOMA
Mexico City: National Museum of Anthropology, Teotihuacan
Additional guidance for Airbnb Experiences
Please secure written permission to film the Experience and the Host prior to booking.
Featuring an Experience
All Experiences must be in the Discover feed
Please avoid using the word "Tours" to describe certain Experiences. Alternatives to consider include "food crawl" or "guided walk"
Please always demonstrate safe and responsible behavior
Do not show any identifiable info such as address, license plates, ID badges, full names, family portraits
Featuring a Host
Please secure explicit permission to feature the Host
If describing hosts, please use terms like "passionate locals" or "knowledgeable locals"
Please avoid describing your Host as a "tour guide"
Galleries, museums and performances
Galleries and museums: capture the space around the art, including its full environment. Avoid focused, straight-on shots of art, and avoid focusing on one particular image
Music, choreography and performances: capture the surrounding space, but avoid capturing songs, choreographed dances or routines, poetry, or similar art forms
Experiences involving alcohol
When selecting Experiences involving alcohol, please choose tastings or classes. Prioritize the educational aspects such as production, flavor profiles, and cultural context rather than focusing on consumption.
Don't promote specific alcohol brands
Do not show images of people drinking
Keep it responsible and incidental. Consider the context
Keep the number of drinks shown to a minimum (1 to 2)
Show alcohol only in safe, responsible settings, never near driving, swimming or other risks. No excessive drinking, and no encouragement of binging or games
Don't show or imply someone is under the influence. For example, images of learning how to make a cocktail rather than displaying shots
Never feature minors; anyone shown should look at least 25
Don't imply alcohol improves status, confidence or attractiveness
No health or nutritional claims
The Experience must be submitted to Airbnb prior to booking, and all content created for Experiences involving alcohol must be approved before you post it. Send both to the Airbnb team from the Messages tab in your Hub, and leave yourself time.
