When placing a Multi-Carrier shipping order, during the "Package Info" step, the user can choose between two package type options: "Custom Package" and "Carrier-Provided Packages."

Custom Packages

If you select the "Custom Package" option, you will be presented with fields to fill in the parcel dimensions and weight.

The price for their shipping label will dynamically change according to the weight and dimensions of the package.

In this case, you can use any box, envelope, or container that you have on hand, as long as it complies with the carrier's specifications.

Carrier-Provided Packages

If you choose the "Carrier Provided Packages" option, you will be shown a field to fill in the package weight. After clicking on the "Show Rates" button, the platform will display a menu with Carriers' Flat Rates and tabs for different kinds of packages, such as envelopes, boxes, and "others."

In this option, as the name suggests, the parcel packaging is provided by the carrier. This means boxes, envelopes, and containers are provided by the carrier in standardized sizes. The carriers promote this as "Shipping Supplies," and they can be ordered online or at each carrier's offices.

When choosing Carrier-Provided Packages, you can access price structures commonly referred to as "Flat Rates." These rates are usually fixed thresholds correlating the type of parcel with a maximum weight.
