USPS

Balloon Price

For parcels that exceed 84 inches but do not surpass 108 inches in combined length and girth, and weigh less than 20 pounds, the balloon price is applied. If a parcel meets these criteria, mailers are charged the 20-pound postage rate (balloon price) specific to its mail class.

Dimensional Weight Price

For low-density parcels destined for Zones 1-9 within the domestic services, the postage is determined by either the actual weight or the calculated dimensional weight, whichever is higher, if the parcel exceeds one cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches).

Nonmachinable Price

A nonmachinable mailpiece refers to an item that must be sorted manually outside the standard automated process, which is more costly to handle.

Oversized Price

The oversized price applies to parcels with a combined length and girth greater than 108 inches but not exceeding 130 inches, regardless of weight, as long as the weight does not surpass 70 pounds.

Length Fee and Cubic Fee (Nonstandard Fee)

A length fee is imposed on parcels whose length is between 22 inches and 30 inches or exceeds 30 inches. A cubic fee is charged for parcels with a volume exceeding 2 cubic feet (3,456 cubic inches).

Dimension Noncompliance Fee (Nonstandard Fee)

Commercial customers are subject to a dimension noncompliance fee if they ship a package over 22 inches in length without accurately reporting the package's dimensions in the Shipping Services file manifests or other approved electronic documentation.

Nonmachinable Surcharge

A nonmachinable surcharge is applied to First-Class Mail letters (Retail) and First-Class Mail International® letters (Retail) that exhibit one or more nonmachinable characteristics and must be processed outside the standard automated mail process.

IMpb (Barcode Label) Noncompliance Fee

The IMpb Noncompliance Fee is related to the Intelligent Mail package barcode (IMpb) for certain commercial mail classes and USPS Return services. Mailers must meet specific barcode label thresholds for IMpb Compliance Quality. Failure to meet these thresholds results in the IMpb Noncompliance Fee.

Oversize / Overweight Item Fee

The Postal Service™ sets a maximum weight limit of 70 pounds and a maximum dimension (length plus girth) of 130 inches for mailpieces. Any item exceeding these limits is considered nonmailable.
