Try using Send grid as its dev friendly and does what you need. They have HTML templates. Not sure how the quality of templates compares to mainchimp and others. In terms of deliverability, sendgrid is one of the best out there
You can also try mailchimp for marketing campaigns and mandrill (purchased by mailchimp) for transaction email triggers linked to our product (signup confirmation, reset pass, notif, etc)
If you are trying to populate some template variables coming from your product which requires a transactional system (mandrill), but you want to link it to a marketing distro list and have the marketing analytics (mailchimp), you might need to export the json and slurp it up via mailchimp to get what you want as I don't think the mandrill analytics or distro list management will fit your needs.
Or Mailgun signs BAAs for free and their UX is MUCH better than the mandrill dashboard.
