If you need money, and fulfill the criteria, you may be able to apply for grants. Grants provide free money without you having to give up any equity. An example of this type of grant, is an SBIR grant which is free government money for companies working on government projects of interest. Although it can take up to 4 weeks to write and complete the application, the upside is that the funders of the grant give $150K, then follow up with $750K + $0.5 - $1 match for external investments. Not too shabby of a deal, right?
