Types of Messages
There are four types of messages available on the Vault.
For Mentors, you can either Book a Slot through their preset office hours or Request Meeting for those who do not have preset office hours and prefer ad hoc meetings.
For Alchemist Founders, you can Send Email which will directly send an email to them.
For everyone else in our network, you can use Request Intro to reach out to them and try to connect.
Messages Tab
You can use the Messages tab to keep track of all your Request Meeting and Request Intro messages. You can see current status for each one of them.
There are 6 types of statuses:
Draft - these are you draft messages
Sent - these are messages that you’ve Sent but no action has been taken by a recipient so far
Opened - these are your Sent messages that recipient has viewed
Accepted - your Meeting Request or Intro Request have been accepted
Declined - your Meeting Requests and Intro Requests that have been declined
Bounced - messages that had not been delivered
You can filter messages by status or sort them by clicking status column.
Can I Reach Out to the Same Person More Than Once?
When browsing through the People list you may notice a Handshake icon on some profiles. This icon signifies that you have contacted this person already.
As a basic rule, you can only reach out ONCE to the same person. There are two exceptions to this rule:
The first exception is that once you close a new round and add this information to your company’s profile you are allowed to follow up with all of the people you’ve reached out before.
The second exception is that If you reached out to the person and your email bounced, you will be allowed to reach out again if we update the person’s profile with a new email address.
In both cases you will see a Handshake icon filled with color next to the Person’s name in your Messages Tab. This icon signifies that you can reach out to this person again.
