Description

This article provides information on how the Labelbox timer records active labeling, reviewing, and reworking time in the Labelbox editors.

Timer States

The timer for labeling and reviewing activities is designed to accurately measure and report the time spend on various aspects of the labeling process. Here’s a breakdown on how the timer works:

  • Labeling Time: Begins when an asset is loaded in the editor, indicated by a small green dot on the top left corner of the screen. This marks the start of labeling process. If there is no user activity for a continuous period of 5 minutes, the timer stops, and the green dot turns gray, indicating that the labeling time has paused. The labeling time is incremented when:

    • The user skips or submits the asset in the labeling queue.

  • Review Time: Recorded when team members modify and save a label. This time is captured as review time, reflecting the effort spent on revising existing labels. The reviewing time is incremented when:

    • The user views the asset in the data row browser view

    • The user views the asset in the review queue

  • Rework Time: Recorded when team members edits label in the “Rework” task. The time is captured when the following:

    • The user submits the asset in the rework queue

    • The user navigates to the review queue, selects edit, and approves/rejects the asset

    • The user edits and saves the asset in the data row browser view

Please note: Labelbox can detect when a label editor is opened in multiple browser tabs. This prevents inaccurate logging of labeling time and notifies users with a full-screen modal to ensure they are aware of the timer suspension

Below is an example of the labeling editor and the active timer.

FAQ:

How and when would the timer appear to be inactive and grayed out?

  • If there is no user activity for a continuous period of 5 minutes, the timer stops, and the green dot turns gray, indicating that the labeling time has paused.

  • The timer will also appear inactive if there are multiple tabs and you switch between different tabs while labeling.

  • Please reach out to support@labelbox.com as soon as possible if the inactivity timer appears while labeling.
