If the parts has zero quality and isn't linked to a device clicking on the delete will delete the part. In many cases you have the part linked and a quantity other than zero. Here is how to resolve those two items. The error you will see is
2. Remove from devices
On the spare part double click to open the spares card. then click on 'Connected Devices' here you will see the device that use the spare part, right clicking on the device name will allow you to remove the part. Once the part is removed form all device it can be deleted if the quantity is zero. Else go to step 3.
3. Set quantity to zero for deletion
If you try to delete a part which is not connected to any devices, but the quantity is not zero you will see the same error message,
To set the quantity to zero we need to use the "Purchase" or "Write off" functions based on the current quantities ie if negative then Purchase, if positive the Write off.
As they work the same I will show in this case the write off as we have a positive quantity.
In this case we need to first now how many parts we have in stock, here we have 5 in stock. Then with the down arrow next to the Spares menu item select 'Write off"
First find the part using the search / filter criteria, then adjust the quantity to the number you want to write off, in this case 5. Add a comment which is required and then click the "Move products" to complete the write off.
Note: If you have multiple stocks you will need to do this for each stock, or move all items to one stock.
Once this is completed you can delete the spare part, by going to the Spare part menu, and finding the part. Its stock level shows Zero and now right click and delete will remove the spare.
