The department functions allow you to control visibility of locations by users, and this limits the visibility of devices, tasks and all data.
Example - In level 3 we want to limit a group of uses to only see this level.
We need to first set the Level 3 department by right clicking to show the options then select Departments and then we will use Level 3 maintenance
This sets a department for level 3
We now need to define the users for level 3, this is done from the Settings> Users> Users then double click on the user and go to the Departments tab and select the department and then choose the department(s) can be multiples.

Selecting a department for a user they now see ONLY this department (tasks, devices) and nothing else. As they are now connected with only this specific department, they is also not seeing the list of departments or/and make any changes in them.
NOTE: Be careful is you are an Administrator and need access to all areas, that NO departments are selected.

You can review all set departments from the Settings > Departments > Departments Overview - Expand as needed, see for example the Level 3 Maintenance assigned to to level 3.
