The location and device tree is a way to organise devices so they are easy to find, you can set the locations to one level or multi level as you need. Then you can add the devices, you also have a search function to find devices. In the case of service providers it maybe regions, and customers are used for the structure an devices.
The device tree structure allows you to filter by locations, which can help better plan maintenance activities as you can see all activities for a customer or location. The lev els and structure can be defined as make sense for your business.
Adding Locations & Devices
Using right click brings up the add option, on the level you want to add in this case on the top level
Or where I have multiple levels and then a device added
You can also use the Department function to allow or restrict who can see what in the structure, if for example I wanted ONLY 'Department 1' to see level 3 devices.
NOTE: To link a user to a department in this case Department 1 so they can ONLY see the structure below this, you need to go to Settings > Users Then select the USER so you see their data, and from there you need to select the Department Tab and select the department(s) as needed.
USEFUL TIP: If you have several similar devices you can copy a device and paste it to the same location or a new location. You should ensure you setup one device completely ie include all documentation, spares, etc so you replicate all this common data saving time. Its as simple as right clicking on a device and copy and paste
