🆕 Improved Cost Allocation’s Allocator Experience

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the Cost Allocation feature and making it more intuitive and easier to use, we recently introduced improvements to the allocator creation process for the Discount Plan type. In this release, we’re excited to turn our attention to Cost Usage, bringing you a smoother and more efficient allocation experience.

What’s New?

  • Simplified Allocation Part: We’ve replaced the complex logic builder with a more streamlined selection process. You can now define allocation sources by choosing accounts, services, and tags from a clear, searchable list. This improvement makes it faster and more efficient to identify and allocate the right costs.

  • Easier Target Selection: We’ve introduced a new, comprehensive view of all accounts when setting allocation targets. This enhanced display provides greater visibility and makes it easier to select the appropriate target accounts—whether you’re distributing costs using fixed percentages or allocating them proportionally based on usage.

🆕 Cost Allocation’s Visualization

We are introducing Cost Allocation’s Visualization to provide a clearer and more interactive way of understanding how cost allocation works among cost groups. Previously, allocation details were only available in the Details section. With this release, users can now visually identify the source and target of allocations and easily track costs after allocation.

Key Enhancements

  • Direct & Shared Cost Tabs

Sample Image

  • Direct Cost now shows the original cost, the allocated cost to the account, and the deducted cost after allocation.

  • Shared Cost displays the portion of cost assigned to another account.

  • These improvements apply to charges/fees and cost usage allocations.

  • Charges Visualization

Sample Image

  • Items are now grouped by type (e.g., all tax-related items are categorized under Tax).

  • Allocated charges are displayed under a dedicated Allocated Charges type.

  • Discount Plan Visualization

Sample Image

  • Works similarly to charges and cost usage visualization but focuses on savings.

  • Direct Savings shows the original saving from discount plans, the allocated savings, and deductions after allocation.

  • Allocated Savings shows the savings distributed to another account.

  • Applied Allocators Overview

Sample Image

  • Each visualization now includes the applied allocators for a cost group, giving users immediate visibility into which allocators influenced the results.

With these enhancements, users gain a more intuitive and structured view of cost allocations, making it easier to analyze both charges and savings distribution across accounts.
