Overview

The Bulk Edit feature allows you to efficiently update attributes for multiple products at the same time using a familiar spreadsheet-style interface.

Previously, bulk updates required exporting products to a spreadsheet and re-importing them after editing. With Bulk Edit, you can now make updates directly inside PXM—saving time and streamlining your workflow.

Requirements

Before using Bulk Edit, please note:

  • User Access: You must have Contributor access or higher

  • Platform: Available on desktop only (not available on mobile)

  • Content Type: Available for products only

    • Not available for files/assets

    • Not available for category folders

  • You must select at least one product to use Bulk Edit

How to Access Bulk Edit

  1. Navigate to your Products.

  2. Select the products you want to edit by checking the boxes next to them.

  3. Click the three dots (•••) in the bottom right-hand corner and Select Bulk Edit.

  4. The bulk edit spreadsheet will load with your selected products.

Understanding the Bulk Edit Spreadsheet

When the spreadsheet loads, you will see:

Unified Attribute View

The spreadsheet displays the union of all attributes across your selected products.

This means:

  • If different products have different attributes assigned,

  • All unique attributes will appear as columns in the spreadsheet.

You may see:

  • Empty cells — These indicate the attribute is either not assigned to that product or does not have a value.

  • Columns that do not apply to every product — This is expected behavior.

Column Layout

  • The first column (Product Name):

    • Is read-only

    • Has a blue background

    • Is frozen for easy reference while scrolling horizontally

  • All editable attribute columns:

    • Appear in gray

    • Can be edited directly within the spreadsheet

Editing Attribute Types

You can click into any editable cell to begin making changes.

Text Fields

  • Click into the cell and begin typing.

Date Fields

  • Click into the cell.

  • A calendar picker will appear.

  • Select a date to populate the field.

Boolean Fields

  • Click the cell.

  • Choose between True or False.

Pick Lists (Dropdown Fields)

  • Click into the cell.

  • Select from available options.

  • Some fields may allow selecting one or multiple options.

Number Fields

  • Accept numbers only.

  • If letters are entered, they will automatically be removed.

Using the Drag Handle

You can quickly duplicate values using the drag handle:

  1. Click a cell. Use the small blue box in the bottom-right corner of the cell.

  2. Click and drag downward to copy the value into additional rows.

Note:

  • The value is copied exactly.

  • Unlike some spreadsheet programs, numbers will not auto-increment.

Saving Your Changes

Once you’ve made your updates:

  1. Click Save in the bottom right-hand corner.

  2. A confirmation message will appear. Click View Status to monitor progress.

You will be redirected to the Imports page, where you can see when your updates are complete.

If you miss the View Status button:

  • Navigate to Reports and select View Imports

Important Behavior to Understand

  • Only cells you actively edit will be saved.

  • If a cell is empty and you do not modify it, that attribute will not be added to the product.

  • Products will only receive new attributes if you explicitly edit those cells.

This prevents accidental attribute changes and helps maintain clean product data.

Constraints & Limitations

  • Maximum of 500 products per bulk edit session

  • Category folders cannot be included

  • At least one product must be selected

  • Large selections may take longer to load and save

  • A stable internet connection is recommended

  • If your session expires, unsaved changes will be lost

  • Not available on mobile devices

Summary

The Bulk Edit feature allows you to quickly and efficiently update product data at scale—directly within PXM—without exporting and re-importing spreadsheets.

By using the spreadsheet-style interface, you can:

  • Edit multiple products at once

  • Identify missing attributes

  • Duplicate values quickly

  • Track update progress in real time
