Folder and File Tagging with Metadata in Amplifi

Adding metadata, or label tagging, to files in Amplifi is a powerful way to enhance organization and streamline searchability. This guide will walk you through the process of adding metadata to files, whether during upload or after they've been added to your collection folders.

Uploading Files and including Tagging:

  • Folder Tagging: When uploading files, you have the option to assign them to specific collection folders using folder tagging. This ensures that the files are organized within the appropriate context.

  • Label Tags: Label tags serve as metadata that helps refine search results and make the platform more user-friendly. While uploading files, you can add label tags such as keywords related to the content of the files. Note that Amplifi includes AI enhanced search including OCR searches, so some things will already be tagged. AI is not perfect though and so if you have specific terms you would like to associate with files, we encourage you to use the Label Tags.

Editing Metadata for Existing Files:

  • Batch Editing: If you need to add or modify metadata for multiple files at once, you can utilize the “batch actions” feature. Simply select the files you wish to edit, go to “Batch Actions”, then “Add Metadata”. This will give the opportunity to add folder and label tags to the files selected.

  • Individual File Editing: For more granular control, you can edit metadata for individual files. Navigate to the files you wish to edit, select the magnifying glass that says “View” if you hover over it. From there, you can navigate to “Details” on the left hand menu, then edit both the folder tags and label tags on an individual file level. Note that you can also use Batch Actions for just one file.
