If you need to bring a SiemensNX model into Amutri, the process involves first exporting it to Navisworks, then saving it as an FBX file. This article covers the settings you need to check at each step to make sure your model is exported correctly and ready for upload.
Step 1: Export from SiemensNX to Navisworks
To begin, export your CAD data from SiemensNX using the standard JT export process. When doing this, pay close attention to one key setting:
Under “File Contents” > “Organise JT files”, ensure that "Same as NX" is selected. This maintains the original structure of your CAD model as defined in SiemensNX.
All other export settings can remain at their default values. Once exported, open the JT file in Autodesk Navisworks.
Step 2: Export from Navisworks to FBX
From within Navisworks, export your model as an FBX file. To ensure compatibility with Amutri’s pipeline, apply the following settings during export:
Textures: Turn off texture export. Amutri currently does not require or use embedded texture data from Navisworks exports.
Units: Set units to centimeters.
FBX Version: Choose FBX201300 as the target format.
Format: Amutri supports both Binary and ASCII FBX formats, so either can be used depending on your preference or downstream processing needs.
Additional Notes
Amutri supports both Z-up and Y-up coordinate systems, so there is no need to manually adjust axis orientation during export.
Ensure your model is clean and simplified as needed before export to reduce file size and improve processing speed in Amutri.
