If your research library lives in Zotero, connecting it to Anara means you never have to re-upload a paper. Your entire Zotero collection becomes a searchable, citable source inside Anara chat.
Tip: Plan required: Zotero integration requires a Plus plan or higher. See plans.
How to connect Zotero
Go to Settings > Connectors.
Find Zotero and click Connect.
You'll be redirected to Zotero's website to authorize the connection. Log in and grant access.
After authorizing, you'll return to Anara with Zotero showing as connected.
Selecting collections to import
After connecting, Anara shows your Zotero libraries and collections. Choose which ones to import rather than bringing in everything at once.
Anara imports PDFs and other supported file types from your selected collections. Large libraries may take a few minutes to process fully.
Using Zotero in chat
Once connected, type @ in the chat input and select Zotero from the Sources list. This scopes the AI's search to your Zotero documents.
You can also combine sources β select @Zotero and @Library together to search across your Zotero collection and any files you've uploaded directly to Anara.
Tip: Every answer Anara gives includes inline citations linking to the exact passage it came from β even when searching across your entire Zotero library.
If Zotero isn't importing
Connection shows as disconnected? Reconnect from Settings > Connectors. Zotero's OAuth authorization can expire.
Missing papers after sync? Make sure the collection containing those papers was selected during import. Try reimporting after updating your selection.
Files imported but show "Content unavailable"? The PDFs may be linked files stored locally rather than in Zotero's cloud. See Files aren't processing correctly for next steps.
