Importing from SharePoint

How to connect Microsoft SharePoint to Anara and import files. Available on Enterprise plans.

Updated today

For organizations with large document repositories in SharePoint, Anara's integration makes those documents searchable and AI-accessible without migrating data out of your existing infrastructure. Connect SharePoint and your institutional documents become a source you can query directly from chat.

Tip: Enterprise plan required: SharePoint integration is only available on the Enterprise plan. Contact us to discuss Enterprise options.

How to connect SharePoint

  1. Find SharePoint and click Connect.

  2. A Microsoft authorization window will open. Sign in with your organizational account and authorize Anara's access.

  3. After authorizing, you'll return to Anara with SharePoint showing as connected.

Importing files

After connecting, choose the SharePoint sites and document libraries you want to import from. Select specific folders rather than importing everything at once.

Anara imports supported file types including PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, and XLSX.

Using SharePoint in chat

Once connected, type @ in the chat input and select SharePoint from the Sources list. This scopes the AI's search to your imported SharePoint documents.

Every response includes citations linking to the exact passage it came from β€” critical when the source material lives in institutional repositories.

Tip: Combine @SharePoint with @Library to search across both your SharePoint documents and files uploaded directly to Anara.

If SharePoint isn't importing

  • Connection shows as disconnected? Organizational Microsoft accounts are subject to admin-enforced OAuth policies. Your IT administrator may need to approve the connection. Contact your IT team or reach out to Anara support.

  • Files missing after import? Check that the SharePoint site and document library were selected and that file formats are supported.
