The liquid policy inventory

Learn about the creation and management of liquid policies in Synthace

Updated over 2 months ago

The Liquid Policies Inventory is a centralized, shared repository for managing liquid handling policies.

The Benefits

  • Create and maintain a shared repository of liquid handling policies

  • Collaborate on policy development across teams

  • Ensure consistency in liquid handling guidelines

  • The collection can evolve dynamically, based on your needs

  • Add descriptions to give context on when certain policies should be used

Create and upload liquid policies

Your Synthace Liquid Policy inventory will come pre-configured with a set of commonly used liquid policies. You can also create individual policies directly in the inventory, or in bulk, by uploading an .XLSX file.

I. Creating policies directly in the inventory

Simply create a new policy, and define the liquid handling parameters for the policy.

Learn more about this here.

II. Upload an Excel file containing your liquid policy definitions.

When creating large numbers of liquid policies, we recommend using the Bulk upload from Excel option. Simply define your policies in a excel file and import this to Synthace

Define and view the details of Liquid Policy rules

For even more flexible use of liquid policies, you can create rules for your liquid policies. This allows Synthace to automatically adapt the way liquids are handled depending on the conditions of a liquid transfer.

Once created, you can view the details of a liquid policy, including the policy rules and liquid handling parameters, in the Liquid Policy Inventory.

Learn how Liquid Policy Rules function here.

To view your liquid policy details, including the description, rules, and creator navigate to Inventory>Liquid Policies and click View Details of your policy.

Liquid policy rules and defaults

Liquid policies consist of a set of conditions and consequences. When the conditions of a Liquid Policy are meet, the consequences will be applied to the liquid handling plan generated by Synthace. These conditions and consequences are used to define logical rules for each aspirate and dispense step of a liquid transfer should be handled.

If a rule does not have a corresponding consequence for a parameter then a predefined default will be applied by Synthace automatically.
Liquid Policy Default Parameter Settings

Check out this article to learn how to create your own liquid policy rules.

The "Consequences" that define the liquid handling parameters for a given liquid policy include a set of default values that are applied unless explicitly specified otherwise. The table below outlines these default settings.
