Creating a Liquid Policy in Synthace: A Step-by-Step Guide

Overview

This guide explains creating and managing liquid policies using the Synthace Liquid Policy Inventory. Liquid policies define specific handling rules for liquids within workflows, ensuring consistency and precision in liquid transfers.

Creating a New Liquid Policy

  1. Start a New Policy

    • Click the "+" button in the bottom right corner.

    • Select "Add New Liquid Policy" to begin.

  2. Define Policy Details

    • Enter a name for the liquid policy.

    • Describe your liquid policy. Use this field to explain the purpose and behavior of the policies you create.

  3. Set Up Policy Rules

    • Add a default rule that determines how the liquid will be handled.

    • Define consequences that apply when using this policy.

  4. Specify Liquid Handling Parameters
    For example

    • Aspirate Reference: Set the vertical position of the tip during aspiration (e.g., Well Bottom).

    • Dispense Reference: Choose the dispense position (e.g., Well Top).

  5. Save the Policy to Inventory

    • Click Add Policy to save it in the Liquid Policy Inventory.

    • Search for the policy to confirm it has been created.

Managing Liquid Policies

  • Copy & Modify: Create a duplicate of an existing policy and adjust as needed.

  • Review Policy Behavior: Inspect how the aspirate and dispense steps will function when applied in the Workflow Builder.
