Simulate a workflow

Check that the devices in your lab can follow the instructions that you prepared.

Updated over 3 years ago

To simulate a workflow, click the Simulate button in the builder;

the cherry picker; or

the form.

When you simulate a workflow, you create a simulation from the workflow.

Tip: On the Experiments page, Synthace displays the simulation on the Workflows tab, beneath the workflow from which you created it.

The builder

When you simulate a workflow in the builder, the simulations panel opens. In the simulations panel, Synthace displays a card for every simulation that you have created from the workflow.

Tip: Use the search bar and the status, stars and date range filters to find a specific simulation more quickly.

Icons

Each card displays the name of the simulation, the date and the time that the simulation started and a number of icons.

A yellow star indicates that you have starred the simulation.

A grey star indicates that a colleague has starred the simulation.

A clear star indicates that no one has starred the simulation.

Rename the simulation.

Display the view snapshot, request help and delete simulation icons.

View the snapshot that Synthace created when you created the simulation.

If the simulation fails, and you cannot use the explanation on the card to fix the problem, share the workflow with us.

Delete the simulation. Synthace only displays this icon if you have not sent the simulation to your lab.

The cherry picker and the form

When you simulate a workflow in the cherry picker or the form, Synthace displays a card at the bottom of the screen.

The card displays the name of the simulation and the time that the simulation started.

After you simulate the workflow, you might tweak it a little, then simulate it again. This starts another simulation, so Synthace displays another card.

Because each card displays a different time, you can easily tell the simulations apart.

Simulation feedback

When a simulation finishes, its card displays the outcome of the simulation.

If there are no problems, the simulation succeeds.

To view the simulation details, click VIEW SIMULATION or VIEW.

If there is a problem, the simulation fails. Use the explanation on the card to fix the problem, then simulate the workflow again.

To view more details about the problem, click VIEW ERROR or Error Details.
