Most quantification assays run in a lab share the same basic hallmarks:
Serial dilution of a standard
Aliquoting replicates of samples of unknown concentration to an assay plate
Aliquoting replicates of the diluted standards to an assay plate.
Data from the diluted standards are used to prepare a standard curve from which the concentration of the samples can be interpolated from.
The most basic of quantification assays require no more than these steps. In order for these to be used however the samples and standards must have a measurable output from an analytical device where no additional reagents are required.
This series of tutorials explains how you can build upon this most basic workflow to satisfy the requirements of quantification assays that do require additional reagents such as Bradford Assays or PicoGreen Assays.
