Add a folder monitor

If you add a folder monitor, and a device outputs any files to the folder, SynthaceHub will upload them to Synthace for you!

Updated over 10 months ago

File monitors can be used to automatically upload datafiles from devices such as plate readers or other analytical devices into the Synthace platform. Once created by the device, the file will automatically uploaded to the Synthace platform, where is can be associated with a specific execution.

Example: After you run a task on a Thermo Fisher QuantStudio™ 7 Flex qPCR machine, it outputs an *.eds file that contains some raw data. If you add a monitor to the folder to which the device outputs the *.eds file, SynthaceHub will upload the raw data to Synthace. After it does, you can use Synthace to find the file and use the raw data in a workflow.

Before setting up a file monitor for your device, please confirm with your Field Application Scientist that the device in question is supported by Synthace.

  1. From the SynthaceHub homepage, go to File Watcher.

  2. On the card that displays the device that outputs the files, click ADD FILE MONITOR.

  3. Complete the Add file monitor form.

    1. Next to the folder icon, type the path of the folder to which the device outputs the files.

    2. If you want SynthaceHub to also include the files in the subfolders of the folder you specified in the previous step, tick Monitor subfolders.

    3. If you want SynthaceHub to upload any file in the folder to Synthace, do not type anything in the Filename filter field.

If you want SynthaceHub to upload any file with a name that matches a specific pattern, use wildcards (*) to find any file with a name that matches the pattern.

Example: You want SynthaceHub to upload every file with a name that begins Data_ , type Data_*.*

If you want SynthaceHub to upload a specific file to Synthace, type the name of the file that you want SynthaceHub to upload in the Filename filter field.

    4. Click SAVE.
